Have you ever thought about the environment? Do you see people litter? Well, you can change that by joining Go Green! Be Green!; it’s the club for you.

Students from grades 5-8 gather and discuss different projects they can do to help P.S. 214X’s environment. Projects include planting a garden, planting trees, cleaning up litter, going on hiking trips, and even convincing students to carpool, ride the bus, or just walk to school.

Need more information? Want to join? Then have a conversation with Tasnia Tussy, class 503, founder of this green club, or speak with Michelle Gonzalez, Parent Coordinator. Membership is open to all P.S. 214X students and staff. So, get green and join now!

The student of the month contest is an important part of 214X. It motivates students to become better! As Stanley Zhang, student of the month winner from class 503 stated, “I am honored and proud of myself that my teachers picked me.”

All grades have the same criteria when selecting the student of the month. These requirements include: perfect attendance, completed all assignments at an exceptional quality, and their conduct was satisfactory. Teachers select their Student of the Month usually at the beginning of every month. Student of the Month winners can be winners more than once a year, but only if they really deserve it.

Student of the Month winners are eligible to enter the Lunch With the Principal Contest. One student from each academy will win this extraordinary prize. In order to win the Lunch With The Principal Contest, students have to write an essay. Why? Mr. David Cintron, Principal, wants to see how well students write, their vocabulary and grammar skill level, the logical flow of their essay, and how the students articulate themselves as a candidate based on the essay prompt.

The winners of the Lunch With the Principal Contest are: Giselle Reyes, of class 201, Early Childhood; Felipe Camilo, of class 501, Elementary School, and Charles Crespo, of class 804, Middle School. These students dined on pizza with Mr. Cintron on Friday, December 3rd.
